Earlier this year I posted about an awesome dyslexic font called "dyslexie." Unfortunately its very expensive, so I made one with a creative commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.

Great work! (I admit the letterforms look strange to me, since I'm not dyslexic). I wonder whether fonts like yours will start being required by Web accessibility guidelines, rather like offering text-resizing options.

This is great Abbie. Congrats on providing this for others. I'd love to discuss some of the things you learned about font hinting and typography in general.

Thanks for the input! Currently, its very easy for someone using a desktop computer to change how they view text to better suit their needs. The really large pain is doing that on a mobile browser. That's where accessibility really has room to grow, and unfortunately it seems Apple is the only one that seems to care, and doesn't provide a half-baked solution.

I'm also surprised that tackling dyslexia on a computer is not something that's been tried until last year, especially in the eBook area! It seems like a perfect fit, and would have been an excellent niche market before the kindle came about.

Jared: that would be awesome. Still learning a lot about it, especially from email responses to this font. The hinting on this font I think is thanks to the Apple and MS font rendering. Very difficult to do proper hinting, and both systems are very forgiving.
