Sometimes we need to remove an element from visual display, but not from the DOM, and visibility: hidden; leaves an obvious hole--display: none should be the ticket...and isn't. If you care at all about how users experience your content using screen readers, display: none is, as author Chris Coyier notes, a "poison apple."
