Yehuda Katz is a Rails core member who wants to make it easy to get started with Rails again, like it once was. He is seeking funding for Rails.app a self-contained Mac OS X app that can be dropped into the Application folder and has everything you need to get started. The project is already getting backing.

Love his term "abandonware!"

I used to be fond of Locomotive also, until too many gems went neglected.

Well, its not really that its too hard. More like it takes too much time during a time when I'm working on things that don't need rails. A drop in app would be great: I'd download it during lunch, and learn as time was freed up.

I think Rails needs this. Kudos to him for taking the initiative.
