Yehuda Katz is a Rails core member who wants to make it easy to get started with Rails again, like it once was. He is seeking funding for a self-contained Mac OS X app that can be dropped into the Application folder and has everything you need to get started. The project is already getting backing.

Well, its not really that its too hard. More like it takes too much time during a time when I'm working on things that don't need rails. A drop in app would be great: I'd download it during lunch, and learn as time was freed up.
