This article is a few years old but it still holds true. It's the story of a programmer who converted his site from Ruby on Rails to PHP.

It's more of an argument against using a robust framework in any language vs having lean custom-built code that does just what you want. The biggest reason cited is speed. That's one thing Ruby on Rails hasn't been able to compete with PHP on.

I think that is the best reason ever!

Time to be serious php is a great language and ruby I have seen do amazing thing so again this is preference.

Some of his reasons are why people adopt Rails, such as not having to mess with SQL. I admire his admitting his mistakes in such a high-profile space--it reinforced my good impression of CDBaby.
